Do I need an Internet connection during the call?
No. The words are computed on the phone, without any network. Only the device's time matters, and the carrier sets it automatically.
My father doesn't have an iPhone. Does it still work?
Not yet. modAmi works on iPhone and iPad, with iOS 17.6 or later, and both people need it. An Android version is in development. In the meantime, if your relative has an iPad, that works: adding is done side by side, screens facing each other, and the words show there too.
Can I use modAmi with only some people?
Yes. You choose freely which contacts you protect: two in the free mode, unlimited with PROTECT.
Setting up modAmi for a loved one?
It's the most common case: an adult child installs the app on a parent's phone. Three steps, done together, side by side. Nothing to remember afterwards.
1Install the app on both phones
Theirs and yours. Each of you enters a first name, a number, and picks a password that will protect their backups. No account to create, nothing to remember afterwards.
2Sit side by side
Tap “+” on both phones and hold the screens face to face, an arm's length apart. A vibration: done, for good.
3Try it together
One reads their two words, the other checks they are on the screen. One minute, and the habit is set. Print the memo for the kitchen table.
